Hooray hooray it's Curvy time again! This year's publication was co-curated by French artist Fafi and Colette Paris founder Sarah Lerfel and features work from over 80 female artists from all around the globe.
To celebrate the launch of Curvy 7 The Galeries in Sydney's CBD is playing host to a festive-themed Curvy installation exhibiting oversized art prints and original works of art in selected retailers. My work is on display alongside other Curvy artists including Melissa Haslam, Noferin, Fafi, Amandine Urruty, Genevieve Gauckler, Rilla Alexander, Irina Dakeva and Kaitlin Beckett.
Well this is all rather exciting. The folk of Element clothing recently paired up with Liss Winnel, the founder of the charming Daydream Lily blog, to create a little collection of outfits, accessories and soft furnishings inspired by all things whimsical, delicate and pretty. The collection is due to hit stores in the next couple of weeks so keep your eyes peeled.
The photoshoot looks incredible and was taken at our house earlier this year by skate photographer Steve Gourlay.
A big THANK YOU to everyone who entered the Spring Print Giveaway competition! It was lovely reading through all your responses and an incredibly hard decision picking just one winner from all the wonderful emails I received.
Congratulations to Agnese from Italy who won the "Home Sweet Home" print. Her description of Spring left my heart smiling....
"I think it's mostly a matter of the air smelling different. It doesn't matter if it's early March or late April: spring comes when the air starts smelling thin and green and it doesn't stab anymore when blowing against your face. You just wake up one morning and feel it. The same happens here now with Autumn: the leaves are still green and tied to their branches but the wind already smells like nuts and walks in the woods and handmade wool jumpers. This is the first year in my life that I don't really enjoy the cold season approaching and miss spring and all the hopes and promises for the summer it usually brings. I miss the long walks, the smell of a hundred different flowers filling my head, the sunlight losing its sharpness."
I don’t know whether it’s the warm weather that’s getting to me or just the fact I’ve been watching too much Disney lately but I’m feeling mighty chipper and am in such a generous mood that I’m giving away a limited edition print of “Home Sweet Home”.
Last year I drew this little fella for the fab Aussie homewares label Pony Rider. It's now available as a removable "wall dot" from their recently released Wallwares collection available here. Brilliant for those indecisive homebodies!
'Vegan Warriors' founder and animal rights campaigner Jaylene Musgrave has organised an auction to help save Fraser Island's dingoes. Under the Queensland Government's current management plan the dingoes are being denied access to food sources and are starving as a result.
The auction is being held on Saturday 21st August at the "Rock the Boat" event, Club Envy, Maroochydore QLD. Some of Australia's leading bands have donated merchandise including Wolfmother, John Butler Trio and Xavier Rudd. I have donated artwork along with Mambo artist Reg Mombassa and Coolum artist Leigh Hutfield.
Here are two new works I drew for the recent "Disband" exhibition at Sydney's aMBUSH Gallery organised by the lovely folk at Leeloo. Photos from opening night can be found here. I actually drew a boy for once. Gasp!
I recently drew an illustration for the printed publication of Daniel Evan's wonderful play "Ivy Shambitt & the Sound Machine": a dark gothic tale about a girl who catches sounds in glass jars. It is being released alongside Morris Gleitzman's "Worry Warts" and is to be sold both nationally and internationally.
